Renaissance Festival Returns To San Luis Obispo On July 19 & 20, 2008

San Luis Obispo's popular Central Coast Renaissance Festival makes its 24th annual appearance in El Chorro Regional Park on July 19 and 20, 2008. The public is warmly invited to join the celebration.

Over 800 costumed participants will bring the colorful English village to life with continuous comedy, juggling, music and dance shows on multiple stages, as well as living history demonstrations throughout the village. Over 70 vendors will offer a dazzling display of handmade crafts of the period including complete costumes, swords, pottery, leather goods, tankards, jewelry and much more. There's a costume rental booth so guests can join the fantasy for the day.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and her stunning Royal Court will be in attendance, with historical characters like Sir Francis Drake, William Shakespeare, Sir Walter Raleigh and more.

Not to be missed is the splendid Royal Joust, held twice daily. See brave knights test each other in a contest of horsemanship and fighting skills. There are games for all ages, as well as face painting, pony rides and a petting zoo for the young ones.

Visitors will enjoy an array of treats such as roasted turkey legs, beef sandwiches, sausages and bangers, ribs, steak sandwiches, foods from the Far East, ice cream, flavored ices and more. Relax on a shady hay bale and enjoy the spectacle with a cup of Her Majesty's favorite ale, wine or honey mead. Refresh yourself with iced tea, freshly squeezed lemonade and other delicious drinks.
